Unnamed Characters of Kollywood Films

Welcome to the next installment of Blog under Cinema section and in here, we are going to look into a strange thing that came across Kollywood Films. That is, the name of the characters. Yes. The characters are much important in the film, as they are meant to specify them.

But, in some films, we can find there’s no name revealing process of the characters.

Here are some characters and films, which never revealed the names :

1. Maanagaram :

In the movie “Maanagaram”, which was written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the character name of Regina Cassandra is never revealed in the entire film, without even a single hint.

In the same film, the character names of both Charlie and Sri are not directly revealed. But, in this case, the director provides their names in the certificate and signature columns, wherever used in this film.

In the same film, the character name of Sundeep Kishan is never revealed in the entire film, without even a single hint.

2. Thuppakki :

In the movie “Thuppakki”, written and directed by A.R. Murugadoss, The powerful villain character played by Vidyut Jammwal remains unnamed in the entire film. This deliberate choice by the director prevents any false misconceptions in the society.

3. Unnaipol Oruvan :

In the movie “Unnaipol Oruvan”, which was directed by Chakri Toleti, the character name of Kamal Haasan’s character’s name is remains undisclosed throughout the film. However, in the climax, his name will be revealed, not to the audience, but only to the Mohanlal’s character.
