World's First Transparent Laptop
Lenovo unvields the world's first transparent laptop at mobile world congress (MWC) 2024 event in Barcelona. The new lenovo's transparent laptop has an 17.3 inch spectacle straight out of science fiction film.It has a borderless screen and a transparent keyboard area with an floating footpad design .This laptop has a 55 % of transparency with 1000 nits brightness and a potential for a real product in the upcoming years. It looks like an transparent one when the pixels are set to black and becomes less transparent when the pixels light up.
Features:
Unlike most premium offerings the Lenovo ThinkPad transparent does not have an Amoled display but MicroLED display instead.
This microLED display gives us better saturation and Transparency brightness and image quality compared to its OLED alternatively. The company anyhow did not reveal the hardware used in this laptop but it uses windows 11 operating system.
Apart from its transparency it uses flat touch keyboard which is an projection rather than an keyboard and the keyboard starts to disappear when you bring a pen close to the Thingbook.
Lenovo said that the laptop could be particularly usefull for the artists or the architects allowing them to sketch the designs easily.
The brilliance of this laptop lies in its intelligent integration of the virtual and real.Through the power of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC),the transparent screen opens up new avenues of work collaboration and efficiency by enabling the interaction with physical objects and overlaying digital information to create unique user generated content .The Transparency allows it to effortlessly integrate naturally within its environment.Users can seamlessly switch between the keyboard and drawing board with a supported pen, unlocking new levels of creative efficiency.AI in combination with transparent displays will open up new ways of engaging with data and applications, offering opportunities to develop new features and form factors.
The Lenovo Transparent Laptop's price and availability:
The Lenovo said that this laptop is a "proof of concept"which means that it won't be available to purchase anytime soon. Its price will not be known till the Lenovo plans to release it in the market."The Lenovo Thinkbook Transparent"display laptop concept is not only a proof of concept but showcase the futuristic perspective of AI PCs blending digital and physical environments that can enhance the users experience in the way never imagined.

The latest generation of ThinkPad lineup includes the ThinkPad T14 i Gen 5,ThinkPad T14s Gen 5,ThinkPad T16 Gen 3,ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2,Thinkbook 14 2-in-1 Gen 4.They are powered by the latest Intel core ultra processor with Intel vpro on select models. The ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 and ThinkPad T14s Gen 5 come in either Eclipse Black or Luna Gray and ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 and ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2 are available exclusively in Eclipse Black.
On the back of concept of transport screen laptop, below the display hinge sits a camera that faces Lenovo says that this could be usefull to identify the objects behind the screen display and show more information about them using object indentification and generative artificial intelligence. For example when you place a flower behind the screen it will identify it and display it's information and
Shows butterflies flying around it.
Drawbacks:
While undoubtedly eye-catching, this futuristic concept isn’t truly future-ready and it is not practical enough for cases of daily use. The transparent display offers a glimpse into what could be the next evolution in laptop design, but concerns linger regarding its practicality and functionality in real-world usage scenarios.Lenovo’s demonstration revealed that the device can function like a traditional laptop and it has all the functions. However, questions arise about readability, glare, and privacy implications when using a transparent screen in various environments. How often, do you actually want to see the empty desk behind your laptop? Would it be beneficial to see your colleague sitting across from you, or would it be distracting? The colours are not that vibrant and the display needs to be a little less transparent for the content to be more visible (with good clarity) on the screen. Since the keyboard also has a transparent design with no physical keys, the screen’s light reflects a lot on the keyboard deck making the touch keyboard not as visible. Additionally, the durability and reliability of such a novel design remain uncertain.
